Sam Mason

Samuel Mason is a composer whose work has received international recognition. His setting of William Blake’s "A Poison Tree" and "An Old Garden" for piano were featured at the 2024 Osmose Festival in Brussels. He was also awarded an honorable mention in the Boston New Music Initiative’s second annual Historically Excluded Composers Competition. As a performer, Sam has presented his original music at venues including Feinstein’s/54 Below and Central Park as part of Young Adults Institute's (YAI) Seeing Beyond Disability initiative. An active educator, he teaches in the San Francisco Symphony’s Music & Mentors program, working with public schools throughout the Bay Area. Sam is currently a mentee of Tom Cipullo in the 2025–2026 NATS Mentorship Program and recently earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with David Conte. He was also a poster presenter at the 2026 National Opera Association conference.
