Source Song Festival, August 2-7, 2026
Applications are now open for the premiere art song festival in the twin cities for scholars, composers, and performers!
Scholars:
The MNScholar Program is a competitive residency during which participants will share current creative research pertaining to song, collaborative performance, and composition with the vibrant community attending Source Song Festival. This is an opportunity to experience Source as an advocate for scholarship and education. This year as we open up applications, we are encouraging students to send abstracts on their research that is Nordic based, as the MNDuo program will be studying Swedish, Norwegian, and Finnish song.
Composers:
The MNSong Program is now a call for song cycles and vocal chamber music to be presented and coached with mentor Libby Larsen. We ask that applicants submit your 10-30 minute song cycle for a premiere at Source Song Festival in future seasons.
Performers:
The MNDuo Program returns for singers and pianists keen to establish new and nurture existing collaborative partnerships during a week filled with coachings, masterclasses, and performances.
Historical Performance Program in collaboration with The Schubert Club of St. Paul, Minnesota, is an optional program add-on for both singer and pianist. You will receive individual coachings with specialist faculty on three historical keyboards including a reconstructed R. J. Regier 1824 Graf fortepiano, an 1878 Bechstein, and a 1899 Erard.
