James Monson

Music has always been an integral part of James’ life, complementing his studies of mathematics and science. He has played piano since age five, and he first accompanied vocal and choral music in sixth grade upon invitation of his middle school choir teacher. He was a member of the BYU Men’s Chorus, BYU Concert Choir, and most recently BYU Singers during his undergraduate studies. Tendonitis kept him from fully embracing the joy and fulfillment of collaborative piano until far into his undergraduate degree, but he now plans to pursue a M.M. in Collaborative Piano. A native of Bellevue, WA, James enjoys soccer, reading, and working on various personal coding projects. James graduated from Brigham Young University this past April with a B.S. in Chemistry and minors in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Music.
