Gregory Smith

Pianist Gregory Smith has achieved broad success in instrumental and vocal collaborative performance. He is a regular participant at summer programs and festivals across the nation, including engagements as a collaborative pianist at SongFest (2022, 2023), the Toronto Summer Music Academy’s “Art of Song” program (2023), the Cincinnati Song Initiative’s “Fellowship of the Song” program (2025) and the Aspen Music Festival’s opera coaching program (2024, 2025). This summer he is excited to serve as a Collaborative Piano Fellow for the Texas Chamber Music Institute and the Source Song Festival.

Gregory is also an avid chamber musician. In 2024 he founded the Vantage Trio with violinist Ciara McGuire and cellist Aaron Lieberman. Together they have explored a wide range of standard and contemporary repertoire and were privileged to participate in the Plowman and Fischoff chamber music competitions in 2025.

Gregory earned his BM in Piano Performance (summa cum laude) from Brigham Young University, studying under Stephen Beus and Jeffrey Shumway, and his MM in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music from the Eastman School of Music, studying under Andrew Harley. He is currently completing his studies as a DMA candidate at Eastman in the same program. In addition to collaborative piano studies, Gregory has also served for four years as a teaching assistant in Eastman’s undergraduate theory curriculum, teaching written theory and aural skills.
