OpenSource: Centuries of Song, A decade of Source

The OpenSource Recital celebrates 10 years of partnerships with the trailblazers who have built Source into the force it is today. Music by Libby Larsen, David Evan Thomas, Carol Barnett, Stephen Paulus, and a new world premiere by Jocelyn Hagen and Tim Takach in a special co-presentation between Source Song Festival and The Schubert Club. Performers include Dashon Burton, Clara Osowski, Mary Jo Gothmann, Paul Sperry, Margo Garrett, Philip Brunelle, Maria Jette, and more. And, join us for the presentation of the Inaugural Paul Sperry American Song Initiative Award, an annual award given to advocates of song performance, creation, and scholarship.

Warren Jones Masterclass

One of the best clinicians of song, Warren Jones invites the audience to invest in our education of our song tradition and performance. Featuring our eight MNDuos, you will experience such individual instruction with poignancy and precision. Warren Jones is a master teacher, interpreter, and a proud fixture of Source Song Festival.

MNSong Showcase

The MNSong Showcase will feature Minnesota-based performers presenting original music by MNSong composers. Each new piece will be paired with a song from the historical canon as a contrasting response piece.


August 10th, 7:30 PM - Tamara Wilson, Anthony Dean Griffey, Warren Jones

The Guest Artist Recital presents soprano Tamara Wilson, tenor Anthony Dean Griffey, and pianist Warren Jones. Works include a world premiere cycle by Juliana Hall The Mystic Trumpeter, a cycle written by a Source alum Evan Snyder, and Strauss's Four Last Songs.

MNDuo Composer Showcase

At the MNDuo Showcase, the Duos will premiere new pieces by MNSong composers inspired by the canon piece, in addition to one piece of their choosing.
